FBI Interview of a Paid Voter-Registration Canvasser About Alleged Falsified Applications
An FBI FD-302 records a former 2020 Muskegon canvasser's account of signature-based compensation and alleged falsification by other workers while denying personal falsification.
The witness said she was paid according to the number of signatures obtained and recalled approximate payments of $300, almost $400, and $200. She said two or three applications were required to receive payment and that she was not offered bonuses.
“was paid based on how many signatures she received.”
The witness said she had only heard about others submitting falsified forms and believed workers did so to maximize the number of applications. She denied being directed to invent information, making up information herself, or submitting fake signatures.
“She only heard about people submitting falsified forms.”
The FD-302 expressly states that it contains neither FBI recommendations nor conclusions, so the witness's allegations are not presented as final investigative findings.
“This document contains neither recommendations nor conclusions of the FBI.”
